Who was Herman Melville



Herman Melville was born on 1/08/1819 in New York and died on 28/09/1891 at the age of 78.
He was a novelist, writer, and poet.
In 1842, he joined the navy.
In 1849, he started a trip around Europe.
When he came back, he started to write Moby Dick, his masterpiece, and he needed two years to finish it.
Moby Dick was a failure, so he went to New York to work as an inspector.
Herman died forgotten, but after many years, Moby Dick became famous and made Herman Melville one of the best writers in the world.
