MOBY DICK Chapter 3

CAPTAIN AHAB

The first officer of the Pequod is Starbuck. He was born in the USA, and he is thirty years old. He is very kind and superstitious. His main objective in the story is to kill all the whales in the ocean.

The second officer is Stubb. He was born in the USA as well. He is very calm, friendly, and hard-working.

One morning Ishmael finally meets Captain Ahab. He thinks that Ahab is a very strong man. Ishmael realizes that the captain does not have a foot, so he discovers a hole on the deck to prevent Ahab from falling.

Ishmael discovers that Captain Ahab is a very serious person because he does not talk to anyone. He also discovers that Ahab passes the whole day looking at the sea, and he does not do any work.
